The Congo Rainforest is one of the most vital, yet most overlooked, ecosystems on Earth. It is the last rainforest still doing its job: absorbing carbon, preserving biodiversity, and sheltering endangered species like the Grauer's gorilla.
But it won't last without your help.Your donation helps us:
Protect rainforest land before it is sold, mined, or burned
Fund ranger patrols and anti-poaching operations
Support sustainable local livelihoods that reduce deforestation
Reforest degraded land and restore gorilla habitat
Educate global audiences about the importance of the Congo
Every dollar is a stand for climate, wildlife, and human dignity.

Project 1: Snare Removal Expedition
Goal: In itombwe National Park, Grauer's gorillas are killed at an alarming rate, mostly by poachers seeking to sell them as bush meat. Over 80% were slaughtered in a 20 year period. Congo Rainforest Fund is seeking funding for a snare removal expedition to remove more then 100 or more snares in Itombwe. Every $20 you contribute removes one snare and saves the lives of critically endangered Grauer's gorillas, the largest primate on earth, eastern chimpanzees, and forest elephants living inside the reserve.
Funding required: $3000
Project 2: Itombwe Stewardship
Goal: Establish management and conservation programs in Itombwe Natural Reserve. This reserve in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is the largest mountain forest in Africa, and home to critically endangered Grauer's gorillas, chimpanzees, and forest elephants. In just 20 years 80% of the Grauer's gorillas were slaughtered. Although officially designated a protected area, and manned by a small government staff, a management and conservation program has not been established. With funds of only $50,000 we can perform pre-habituation of a group of gorillas for protection and monitoring, and set up needed conservation facilities and programs.
ICCN, the government conservation organization agency has asked the Congo Rainforest Fund to seek financing to manage the reserve on an ongoing basis. This seed funding of $50,000 will allow CRF to be named reserve manager in the future and allow us to seek grant funding for full time and ongoing management of the reserve.
The Congo Rainforest is a gigantic absorber of carbon dioxide, and so earth's last terrestrial lung, given that the Amazon and Indonesian rainforests are no longer net carbon absorbers. It's now clear we must make saving the Congo Rainforest a climate change priority before its too late.
You can be a huge part of this critical effort to protect the Congo Rainforest, by helping us save the Itombwe Reserve, one its most important forests.
Funding Required: $75,000
